Frequently asked questions

  • Yes! Though I do offer services like nutrition counseling and lifestyle coaching, I am a certified physician assistant who can order lab testing and prescribe medications or supplements. You can trust the care and information you receive will be from a certified medical provider.

  • I do not serve as your pediatrician or primary care provider. When you initiate care with me, you are agreeing that your child has established care with a pediatrician or family medicine provider. My intent is to be a resource of holistic health and wellness for you which may not be found at a conventional pediatric practice.

  • No, I do not require a membership to join. I believe in educating, equipping, and empowering. As such, my practice is a fee-for-service model that allows you to be in control of the level of care you feel necessary to help your child thrive.

  • No, I do not participate with insurance but I do accept HSA/FSA.

This is truly for your benefit. The sad reality is that traditional insurance-based practices are compensated by the number of patients they see, rather than the quality of care provided. In not taking insurance, you have better access to and significantly more time with me.

  • Right now, I am 100% telemedicine. This keeps costs low for me, and for you. My practice is open to anyone living in Virginia.

  • Holistic medicine is an approach to your child’s health that considers the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Holistic medicine includes many modalities, ranging from traditional medicine to alternative or natural remedies.

  • “Functional medicine” simply means root cause medicine. Instead of viewing a problem and using a band-aid approach, functional medicine looks at the root cause of why an illness might be happening in the first place. The wonderful thing about functional medicine is that it is personalized medicine. Functional medicine providers look at the whole patient, their particular lifestyle (nutrition, exercise, sleep) and genetics to gain a better understanding of how their body copes with everyday stressors, illness, and disease. In this way, functional medicine providers can individualize lifestyle changes, detoxification, nutrition, and supplementation. Functional medicine is not a one size fits all approach that you often find in conventional medicine.

  • We do ask for a 72 hour notice for a new patient appointment out of respect for our growing waitlist. We keep this policy in order to allow other patients these time slots. It is therefore up to our discretion to charge up to the full amount of the appointment with less than a 72 hour notice for new patient appointments. We ask for a 24 hour notice for follow-ups that need to be cancelled or re-scheduled. For follow-ups, we have a $50 no-show fee that will be charged the date of the appointment for a no-show.
